Honey comb structure - 
This type of structure is found in silty soil. When the particles of this soil settled down, the gravitational force and surface forces play a major role. When the particles settled e, the particles of lower region which is already settled attract the upcoming particles for settler. For this reason an arch formation takes place. The combination of a number of arch leads to a honey comb structure.
When the soil get disturbed during pile driving the volume get reduce drastically because of having a high void ratio.
